Job Title: Business Banker

Department: Distribution

Position Function: As a Business Banker within our Distribution department, your primary responsibility will be to provide proactive business banking sales and relationship management. You will play a crucial role in nurturing and growing a portfolio of SME customers by identifying their needs and offering specialized bank financial product solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze geographical and environmental factors affecting the branch to understand its commercial potential and competition.
  • Periodically analyze the customer base of the branch and portfolio.
  • Monitor and take action on daily referrals/leads within set timelines.
  • Ensure weekly sales plans are in place.
  • Manage the loan portfolio by actively participating in watch list meetings, monitoring/manage pre-Non Performing Loans (NPLs), and fully recovering bank funds.
  • Support in the timely and efficient preparation of business documentation to facilitate faster turnaround time and closure of customer requests.
  • Optimize cross-selling opportunities and provide comprehensive financial advice to clients on all services they seek from the bank.
  • Support in the preparation of arrears and excesses reports for the RAC committee’s assessment of portfolio performance.
  • Maintain relationships with clients by providing support, information, and guidance, and recommending new opportunities and service improvements.
  • Identify, grow, and sustain customer relationships that can provide superior returns and contribute to the bank’s growth targets.
  • Receive and verify customer documents for various banking processes.
  • Prepare and maintain well-documented reports on accounts opened, KYC, and client visits.
  • Collect, process, and follow up on customer complaints, providing feedback to customers.
  • Assist in enhancing staff accomplishments and competence by planning delivery of solutions, answering technical and procedural questions, and coaching team members.
  • Carry out any other duties assigned from time to time.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • A university degree in Finance, Marketing, Banking, or any related field from a recognized university.
  • 3 years’ experience in banking/sales.
  • Planning, coordination, and follow-up skills.
  • Good business acumen and financial skills.
  • Customer-centric approach.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Solid operational acumen.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build internal and external networks.
  • Ability to work under pressure and exercise excellent judgment.
