JOB TITLE: Credit Analyst
DEPARTMENT: Credit
FUNCTIONALLY REPORTS: Chief Credit Officer
JOB OBJECTIVE(S):
To emphasize and protect high credit quality while encouraging and increasing the Bank’s market share to ascertain the creation of a high-quality portfolio while maximizing returns.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review all credit requests emanating from Corporate and other Business Units in line with the Bank’s credit review process and recommend qualifying ones for management approval.
- Ensure pricing of credits adequately compensates for associated risks.
- Follow up credit requests submitted for approval and advise relevant officers of the outcome.
- Generate credit exception reports and follow up with Business Units for regularization.
- Escalate issues that may adversely impact the quality of the portfolio.
- Detection and escalation of unauthorized credits and past due overdrafts.
- Prepare weekly and monthly relevant credit reports.
- Ensure recognition of incomes and fees from booked credits and matured payments are captured.
- Train and provide direction to guide Business offices on promptly addressing early warning signals.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
- Effective supervision/management of team members to achieve the team’s goals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft programs and report writing.
- Familiarity with credit policy, procedures, and their practical applicability.
- Knowledge of regulatory and statutory requirements specifically related to credit.
- Working knowledge of the Finacle system.
- Understanding of the bank’s products and facilities and constituted credit risks.
- Understanding of Financial and Credit analysis.
- Attention to detail and confidentiality.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative.
- Willingness to learn and train others.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Good analytical skills.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: First degree in quantitative subjects (Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Economics, Business Administration, or related qualification). Post Graduate Qualification will be an added advantage.
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years Banking experience.

Knowledge:
- Good knowledge of financial accounting with the ability to analyze and interpret corporate financial statements.
- Good knowledge of Credit analysis and risk assessment.
- Good knowledge of the Nigerian economy and market dynamics.
- Good knowledge of the bank’s policies and procedures.
