Job Summary:

The WASH Manager reports to the Chief of CSD (P5) for general guidance and direction. Responsible for managing the WASH unit/output, the Manager leads the development, preparation, management, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the WASH program within the country program. This role provides technical guidance and management support throughout the programming processes to ensure achievement of WASH-related output results.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Management support to the Chief of CSD.
  2. Programme development and planning.
  3. Programme management, monitoring, and delivery of results.
  4. Advisory services and technical support.
  5. Advocacy, networking, and partnership building.
  6. Humanitarian WASH preparedness and response.
  7. Innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Advanced university degree in public health, social sciences, behavior change communication, sanitary engineering, or another relevant technical field.
  • Additional relevant post-graduate courses.
  • Minimum of eight years of professional experience in WASH-related programs for developing countries.
  • One year of deployment in a developing country.
  • Humanitarian experience: At least six months of work in humanitarian situations, including a three-month deployment mission.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in English.
  • UNICEF’s Core Values and Competencies.

Desirable:

  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language.
