Job Summary:
The ICLA Digital Technical Assistant is responsible for contributing to ICLA activities in Kampala and strengthening the digital component of the ICLA program.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Generic Responsibilities:

  • Implement NRC’s ICLA program policy at the office level.
  • Ensure that ICLA is integrated into program activities.
  • Train and advise staff and partners on ICLA.
  • Produce data collection, reports, and analysis as required.
  • Provide recommendations on ICLA actions and response mechanisms.
  • Represent NRC in protection meetings and cooperate with relevant partners.
  • Stay updated on local and national news and provide briefings to NRC staff on relevant information.
  • Be alert to the security implications of NRC’s activities related to protection and human rights concerns.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Implement ICLA project activities in line with approved proposals, donor requirements, NRC policies, international standards, and local customs.
  • Lead ICLA project activities, including advice and information dissemination to program participants, awareness sessions, and managing local authorities’ capacity-building programs.
  • Conduct information and counseling sessions on ICLA thematic areas for beneficiaries.
  • Assist in conducting needs assessments, preparing legal documents, and establishing excellent relations with beneficiaries.
  • Document findings of needs assessments and prepare reports and other relevant documents.
  • Explore the use of digital technologies for ICLA information activities and lead the development and implementation of the case management system and database of cases in a digital platform.
  • Perform other relevant tasks as assigned by the Project Coordinator/Manager/Area Manager/Specialist.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • University degree in law, social studies, development studies, information management systems, information technology, or computer science.
  • At least three years of experience with NGOs, legal, or international organizations in the area of protection or human rights.
  • Digital and technology skills, including experience in CRM and database systems, preferably in humanitarian or legal aid contexts.
  • Ability to work inclusively and accountably, plan and deliver results, empower and build trust, and handle insecure environments.
  • Knowledge of the context in Uganda and fluency in English and local languages.
  • Experience working with government, local authorities, humanitarian actors, host communities, and displaced populations (IDPs, returnees, and refugees).
