Job Summary:

Working at project location – In this role, you will provide on-site support in the project location and/or VSO office, (full-time unless otherwise specified) for a set period of time. Build and strengthen the capacity of health workers, clinical leads, peer educators and Village Health Team members in Adolescent friendly Sexual Reproductive Maternal Neonatal Child Adolescent Health and Rights through trainings, on the job coaching, mentoring and support supervision. Support strengthening of referral pathways and functioning of maternity and labour wards in Moroto and Napak districts. Provide technical advice and support implementation of policies and procedures.

 

 

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Organize community awareness campaigns within schools on ASRH issues and menstrual hygiene interventions.
  • Organize health center visits getting adolescents and youth representatives from the community to familiarize them with services offered. This will be integrated with table talks where youth can freely consult and ask questions relating to their adult-hood and adolescent stage development.
  • Increase health and education workers’ sexual, reproductive, maternal, new born, child, and adolescent health (SRMNCAH) knowledge and skills in order to improve performance and address stigma and Perception on health services provided.
  • Institutionalize social accountability mechanisms by the health systems actors through capacity building on Social Accountability and health systems strengthening.
  • Expansion/Advocacy of ITDT project to ensure continuing essential Sexual Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, Child and Adolescent Health services during COVID 19 pandemic.
  • Establish and support to 4 fellows living with the disability reach people living with disability with RMNACH and GBV messages.
  • Ensure partnering with the disability union/associations to better provide ASRHR services to the disabled.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Qualified nursing professional specialized Midwifery.
  • A minimum of 5 years proven professional experience.
  • Fully accredited by the relevant professional body.
  • Proven experience in emergency obstetric care and ASRH.
  • Flexible and used to working with limited resources.
  • Experience in mentoring and training in service health workers/colleagues and facilitating workshops.
  • Innovator, experienced in implementing projects.
  • Prior experience of working in developing countries.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and suitable character to work in a slow-paced environment.
  • Conceptual and analytic thinking.
  • Initiative, self-motivated.
  • Ability to adjust and adapt easily to a new environment, culture and situation.
  • A team player able to work alongside their local colleagues in a spirit of partnership.
  • Proactive, supportive and accommodative.
  • Ability to be open minded and respectful
  • Ability to be resilient and adaptive to new situations
  • Ability to facilitate positive change and build sustainable working relationships
  • Ability to seek and share knowledge
