Job Summary: The Warehouse Worker is responsible for the safe handling, movement, storage, and inventory of both expendable and non-expendable items. This position falls under the General Services Office and reports to the Non-Expendables Storekeeper.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Warehouse Operations and Maintenance (70%):
- Loading and unloading of items from trucks/vans to warehouses.
- Operating forklifts, trolleys, and other equipment for safe transportation of heavy items.
- Assisting in packing, unpacking, and delivery of welcome kits to new arrivals.
- Organizing and distributing expendable supplies to various sections.
- Performing maintenance and housekeeping duties to ensure cleanliness and security of storage areas.
- Conducting safety inspections of warehouses and equipment.
Inventory (20%):
- Logging incoming and outgoing warehouse items for inventory control.
- Conducting annual inventory checks to ensure proper storage and identify any discrepancies.
- Conducting individual inventories of residences and reporting damaged or missing items.
- Assisting in arranging items for sale or disposal.
Other Duties Assigned (10%):
- Providing manual assistance during visits and events.
- Escorting visitors and contractors at post.
- Providing manual labor assistance as directed.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Completion of primary school.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in manual labor or warehouse work.
- Good knowledge of warehouse maintenance and storage space utilization.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects.
- Proficiency in operating warehouse tools and equipment.
- Valid Class B driver’s license with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience.
- Language proficiency: English level I (Rudimentary) and Luganda level II (Limited).
