Job Summary: The Warehouse Worker is responsible for the safe handling, movement, storage, and inventory of both expendable and non-expendable items. This position falls under the General Services Office and reports to the Non-Expendables Storekeeper.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Warehouse Operations and Maintenance (70%):

  • Loading and unloading of items from trucks/vans to warehouses.
  • Operating forklifts, trolleys, and other equipment for safe transportation of heavy items.
  • Assisting in packing, unpacking, and delivery of welcome kits to new arrivals.
  • Organizing and distributing expendable supplies to various sections.
  • Performing maintenance and housekeeping duties to ensure cleanliness and security of storage areas.
  • Conducting safety inspections of warehouses and equipment.

Inventory (20%):

  • Logging incoming and outgoing warehouse items for inventory control.
  • Conducting annual inventory checks to ensure proper storage and identify any discrepancies.
  • Conducting individual inventories of residences and reporting damaged or missing items.
  • Assisting in arranging items for sale or disposal.

Other Duties Assigned (10%):

  • Providing manual assistance during visits and events.
  • Escorting visitors and contractors at post.
  • Providing manual labor assistance as directed.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Completion of primary school.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in manual labor or warehouse work.
  • Good knowledge of warehouse maintenance and storage space utilization.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects.
  • Proficiency in operating warehouse tools and equipment.
  • Valid Class B driver’s license with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience.
  • Language proficiency: English level I (Rudimentary) and Luganda level II (Limited).
