Job Title: Communication and Administrative Officer

Background: Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, the Communication and Administration Officer will work at the Kampala based Latek office and closely with Latek members all over the country.

About Latek Stay Alliance Uganda: Latek Stay Alliance Uganda is an umbrella Organization of Social Entrepreneurs whose overall objective is to reduce extreme poverty in the communities under the thematic areas of Education, Health, and Income generation currently operating in Uganda. Our Vision is a poverty-free Uganda.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Main: Communication & PR

  • Support the production of a range of publications, including annual reports, impact reports, donor reports, and newsletters.
  • Document and communicate Latek’s work through various mediums.
  • Edit and update promotional material and publications (brochures, videos, social media posts, etc.).
  • Ensure that Latek’s publications are of high quality and disseminated appropriately.
  • Manage Latek’s digital presence through the website and other social media platforms.
  • Maintain records of media coverage and collate analytics and metrics.
  • Seek opportunities to enhance the reputation of the Latek brand and coordinate publicity events.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with multi-level stakeholders.
  • Support in developing and implementing the communications strategy.
  • Liaise with the media and all partners to profile Latek’s work in accordance with the strategy.
  • Support the development and implementation of the strategically aligned communication plan.

Additional: Administration

  • Receives Latek Members and guests to the Latek Secretariat and keep a conducive front reception area.
  • Keep equipment or any documents safe when unattended.
  • Support systems development, meeting scheduling, and execution.
  • Lead office and kitchen supply management and inventory controls.
  • Take messages, help direct inquiries, and communicate efficiently.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social sciences, Communication, or any related course.
  • At least 2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Previous related experience in an NGO setting is an added advantage.
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills. Fluency in English.
