Position: Graduate Trainee – Protection, Control & SCADA

Reporting to: Protection, Control and SCADA Engineer
Contract Type: Full-time

Job Purpose: The Graduate Trainee – Protection, Control & SCADA will play a vital role in ensuring the safe operation and operational planning of the electrical distribution network. They will be responsible for the maintenance of network protection, control, and SCADA systems.

Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate network control operations, including preparing and implementing switching and outage schedules.
  2. Facilitate and coordinate the resolution of network faults on both medium and low voltage networks, managing consumables for faults resolution.
  3. Perform protection coordination reviews and relay settings for effective MV network operation.
  4. Configure and administer the network SCADA system.
  5. Participate in site acceptance inspection, testing, and commissioning of network protection and SCADA equipment.
  6. Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of network protection and SCADA equipment, including battery systems, auxiliary supplies, control circuits, relays, IEDs, switchgear, RTUs, among others.
  7. Liaise with network construction and maintenance teams, contractors, and stakeholders to facilitate network construction and maintenance activities.
  8. Plan and prepare staff shift schedules for network control and faults teams.
  9. Prepare routine network operation reports.
  10. Perform any other duties delegated by the supervisor.

Special Qualifications Required:

  • B.Sc. Electrical Engineering with good Information Technology skills.
  • Knowledge in Power Systems Protection.
