About Project: Heifer Project International in Uganda is embarking on a 5-year initiative funded by the Mastercard Foundation under its Young Africa Works program. This project aims to enhance the socio-economic well-being and resilience of young people in the Busoga sub-region by 2029. Targeting 250,000 individuals aged 16-35 (70% females and 3% youth with disabilities), the project will facilitate collaborations with partners such as The Consortium for Enhancing University Responsiveness to Agribusiness Development Limited (CURAD), The Federation of Small & Medium Enterprises (FSME), Financial Sector Deepening Uganda (FSDU), and ASIGMA group.

Job Summary: The Business Facilitator – Stimulating Agribusiness for Youth Employment, under the Cluster Coordinator’s guidance, will oversee the delivery of business facilitation services within communities. Responsible for supporting youth, women, and persons with disabilities in establishing new or expanding existing businesses in prioritized value chains, the Business Facilitator will also facilitate linkages with commercial service providers. This role involves mobilizing and engaging young people, implementing project activities at the district level, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance competitiveness and foster business development.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure the setup and sustainability of Agribusiness Hubs.
  2. Capacity building of Agribusiness Hubs and Self Help Groups (SHGs) on leadership and governance.
  3. Employ Social Capital Development (SCD) to strengthen community networks.
  4. Plan, report, and document project activities.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Agriculture Economics, Business Administration, Rural Development, or related field.
  • Three (3) years of field and technical experience in agribusiness development.
  • Experience working with youth and women producers’ organizations/groups.
  • Strong consumer marketing, financial analysis, and management skills.
  • Knowledge of Market Systems Development (M4P) approach.
  • Proficiency in English, both oral and written.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the project area.
