Kamit Energies Uganda Ltd is seeking to offer employment opportunities to individuals to fill the following positions:

1. Job Title: Accountant

Position Overview: The accountant is responsible for overall accounting operations: reporting, taxation, and ensuring they are well-prepared and managed to keep accounting up to date, in accordance with accounting standards and company policy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform financial management duties including generating financial data, compiling, and submitting reports, analyzing industry trends, and assessing the financial health of the company.
  • Oversee the operations and development of the company’s finance departments including creating and reviewing policies, budgeting, recruiting, training, and conducting regular assessments of financial procedures.
  • Supervise the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations, monitor and enforce compliance with tax and financial reporting standards, and assist with cash flow forecasting.
  • Advise colleagues and executive management on decisions related to the company’s finances and supervise the documentation of the company’s financial status and forecasts.
  • Mediate between the organization, employees, stakeholders, shareholders, and investors on financial issues for amicable resolution of differences.
  • Plan, organize, and execute financial tasks and projects of the organization and make estimates of funds required for short and long-term financial objectives.
  • Complete financial reports, lead the month-end closing process, and conduct monthly financial forecasts.
  • Develop and implement plans for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, and achieve a proper mix of equity and debt to minimize cost and maximize operational profit.
  • Provide financial insight and analysis to drive the business performance of the organization, manage and monitor metrics, KPI tracking, and reports.
  • Evaluate the financial performance of the organization, measure returns on investments, and understand and calculate the risks involved in the financial activities of the Company.
  • Verify and record the Company’s related financial transactions in the accounting software according to the scheme discussed with the Finance Lead.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, monitor budget performance, and provide variance analysis.
  • Collaborate with department heads to ensure accurate budgeting and stay informed about changes in financial regulations and communicate relevant updates to the team.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits, prepare the Company’s General Ledger, maintain periodic Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable & Inventory lists, and lists of Fixed Assets and their depreciations.
  • Prepare all payment transactions, update invoicing/payments follow-up, perform monthly bank reconciliation and loan interest calculation, and prepare Company’s tax returns and social contributions.
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end audit with external auditors and provide audit requests, preparation of various audit schedules, and resolving any issues identified.
  • Control expenses: suppliers, agencies, expense claims, payroll, petty cash, prepare sales invoices, assist on Financial control of operations: JV partners accounts, advance management, check expenses in relation with forecast, and assist on financial process (budget, forecast, closures).
  • Interface with the Company administrator and ensure accounts legal documentation update i.e tax, and comply with VAT, Payee return, WHT, NSSF requirements by studying requirements and preparing documents for VAT, Payee return, WHT, NSSF submission.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance/Account or relevant field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience preferably gained within the engineering sector, petroleum operations.
  • Initiative and ability to plan and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with superb organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent report-writing and communication skills.
  • Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, Sage 100, and other financial planning software.
