Dfcu Bank is a leading financial institution in Uganda. We are currently seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Internal Controls Officers. Reporting to the Head of Branch Distribution, Internal Controls, the role holders will be responsible for implementing the Internal Controls work plan to ensure the achievement of department objectives.

Key Accountabilities:
The successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out timely and quality standard and ad hoc reviews to identify control gaps.
  • Performing controls-based snap checks, reviews, revenue assurance, exception investigations, etc., across all key processes in Branch Distribution and alternate channels.
  • Liaising with stakeholders to analyze identified gaps and recommend effective remediation measures.
  • Undertaking risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting through available tools.
  • Championing a healthy risk and control culture across the bank through training and advisory.
  • Tracking to full closure the rectification of all audit findings to prevent repeat scenarios.
  • Performing root cause analysis for non-fraud incidents and recommending remedial actions.
  • Monitoring the effective implementation of the operational risk framework and preparing lessons learned from incidents and emerging risks.
  • Participating in policy and procedure reviews and evaluating sources of income leakages.
  • Participating in combined assurance reviews and performing other assigned tasks.

Qualifications, Experience, and Competencies Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in a financial institution.
  • Professional qualification in Risk Management/Audit is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Risk Management processes and Branch Operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical with good attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify and engage with stakeholders across various domains.
  • Effective team player with the ability to work independently.
