About Us:
Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) is a semi-autonomous agency of the Government responsible for the maintenance, coordination, supervision, and monitoring of the National Statistical System. The Bureau ensures the collection, analysis, and dissemination of standardized statistical information. UBOS is also mandated as the principal official statistics provider.

About NPHC Census:
The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) will be implementing the enumeration exercise of the National Population and Housing Census (NPHC) 2024 from 10th May 2024 to 19th May 2024, with the night of 9th May 2024 as the Census Night. This exercise is in accordance with the Uganda Bureau of Statistics Act 1998, aiming to promote the production of reliable official statistics and ensure the development and maintenance of the National Statistical System. The Census results will provide benchmark socio-demographic data necessary for general administration and the planning process.

Job Summary:
The Administrative Assistant will provide day-to-day administrative, logistical support, and data management services support to the Administration Department.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Open and close the processing center.
  • Supervise the cleaners at the processing center.
  • Provide any other administrative support to ensure efficient operations at the processing center.
  • Maintain physical and digital filing systems.
  • Answer phone calls, direct callers to appropriate personnel, schedule appointments, sign for incoming packages, and assist clients and other visitors.
  • Coordinate logistics for meetings, including room setup and catering.
  • Operate and maintain office equipment at the data processing center, including printers and copiers.
  • Work with maintenance staff and outside vendors to ensure equipment at the data processing center is in good working order and supplies are always on hand.
  • Work closely with other administrative staff and support other colleagues by providing them with drinking water and tea.
  • Undertake regular inspection of furniture and fittings and report to the officer in charge.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Diploma in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • One year of administration-related work experience.
  • Computer literacy skills, i.e., proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • High team ethic.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent planning skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
