Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) is a semi-autonomous agency of the Government responsible for the maintenance, coordination, supervision, and monitoring of the National Statistical System. The Bureau ensures the collection, analysis, and dissemination of standardized statistical information. UBOS is also mandated as the principal official statistics provider.

About NPHC Census:
The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) will be implementing the enumeration exercise of the National Population and Housing Census (NPHC) 2024 from 10th May 2024 to 19th May 2024, with the night of 9th May 2024 as the Census Night. This exercise is in accordance with the Uganda Bureau of Statistics Act 1998, aiming to promote the production of reliable official statistics and ensure the development and maintenance of the National Statistical System. The Census results will provide benchmark socio-demographic data necessary for general administration and the planning process.

Job Summary:
The Stores Assistant will implement systems for safeguarding census assets and storing items in line with UBOS corporate objectives.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the inspection and receipt of all inventories.
  • Assist in loading and offloading of stock during dispatch and retrieval.
  • Support in sorting, shelving, and packaging of stock.
  • Participate in engraving/Tagging of Assets and maintain a census inventory database.
  • Ensure timely issuance of stock to field Teams and generate weekly reports.
  • Maintain stock cards and ensure stores are chronologically arranged/labelled.
  • Post/update stock issues and manage census stores records in line with the Stores Manual.
  • Conduct regular reconciliation between stock records, inventory database, and physical stock.
  • Ensure the neatness of stores and stock at all times.
  • Participate in the stock taking exercise.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • A Diploma in Stores Management, Purchasing and Supplies, Commerce, or Business Administration.
  • Possession of professional qualifications in procurement and management is an added advantage.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in a similar position.
  • High integrity and ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • A team player with high-quality interpersonal skills and the ability to work under pressure.
