As part of our commitment to effective communication and advocacy, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Communication Coordinator to join our team.

Job Purpose: The Communication Coordinator will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing Saferworld’s Conflict Sensitivity Facility’s (CSF) communication strategy. This role involves managing CSF’s social media platforms, creating multimedia content, overseeing the CSF website, and handling administrative requirements for the team.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Strategy:

  • Update and implement CSF’s communications and advocacy strategy in collaboration with the Director and the wider CSF team.
  • Coordinate with Saferworld London and Sudan communications teams to ensure consistency and standardization.
  • Ensure CSF’s communications strategy aligns with Saferworld and donor guidelines for communications and branding.

Management and Oversight:

  • Manage the CSF website, ensuring up-to-date content and troubleshooting.
  • Handle CSF’s social media platforms in both Arabic and English, ensuring timely and relevant content.
  • Engage with various groups on social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and potentially Clubhouse for interactive communication.
  • Manage and coordinate the production of multimedia content, including videos, in alignment with CSF’s objectives.
  • Develop audio-visual formats for CSF’s communication and outreach.
  • Supervise the CSF photo library, including procurement, captioning, and maintenance.

Content Development and Production:

  • Write and coordinate content for various products such as stories, briefings, toolkits, and blogs.
  • Coordinate the input, design, and publishing of major publications with the CSF Director.
  • Support the production of organizational communication materials in line with Saferworld’s brand guidelines.
  • Assist in translation and verification of materials in English and Arabic.

Administration and Knowledge Management:

  • Manage CSF’s mailing lists and share updates with relevant parties.
  • Oversee CSF’s knowledge management system, ensuring proper usage and maintenance.
  • Compile and enter data related to monitoring and activities.
  • Support core functions of CSF, including capacity building and analysis activities.

Key Working Relationships:

  • Collaborate with the CSF team and consortium for capacity building and research activities.
  • Coordinate with Saferworld London communications team.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with donors, UN agencies, INGOs, NNGOs, and aid workers.

Scope and Accountability:

  • Decision-making authority related to CSF’s communication strategy and activities, with input from the CSF Director.
  • Responsible for the design and delivery of CSF’s communication activities.

Qualifications: Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media, Graphic Design, Languages, or relevant field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in communications, graphic design, content production, or related field.
  • Experience in producing content for social media and audio-visual platforms.
  • Ability to produce high-quality outputs in English and Arabic.
  • Strong computer literacy skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in Sudan or the region.
  • Experience in mentoring and providing guidance to diverse actors.
  • Knowledge of communication products such as mailing lists and social media content generation.
  • Experience in global discussions on aid reform and learning.
  • Previous work in conflict-affected contexts.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Project management skills to ensure timely and quality communication products.
  • Curious and problem-solving disposition.
  • Excellent listener with an open mind for diverse perspectives.
  • Collaborative team player with adaptability to changing contexts.
  • Ability to tailor communication to different audiences.
  • Willingness to travel to field locations and interact with stakeholders.
  • High proficiency in computer literacy, including social media platforms.

Other Requirements:
