About AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF): AHF is an international non-profit NGO based in Los Angeles, California, USA, operating across 45 countries worldwide. With over 1.5 million patients in care, the majority in Africa, AHF collaborates with Governments through Ministries/Departments of Health (MoH) to provide cutting-edge medicine and free HIV and AIDS services, including antiretroviral therapy in resource-constrained settings. Position: Clinical Officer – 03 Positions
Locations: Butenga Health Center IV, Rwashameire Health Center IV, Kakuuto Health Center IV

Responsibilities:

The Clinical Officer leads the provision of quality clinical care, ensuring accurate diagnosis and prescriptions are provided to clients in a timely manner. They make appropriate referrals for better case management and participate in capacity building of junior staff through coaching, mentorship, and conducting regular Continuous Medical Education (CME) sessions. The responsibilities include:

  • Conducting physical examinations and preventive health measures following prescribed guidelines.
  • Ordering, interpreting, and evaluating diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient’s clinical problems.
  • Reviewing laboratory test results and other reports.
  • Recording physical findings, formulating plans, and discussing cases with physicians and health professionals.
  • Prescribing medication or other treatment forms, refilling medications as needed.
  • Supervising nurses, HIV Medics, ART Aides, and other staff.
  • Implementing Ministry of Health (MoH) and AHF guidelines for HIV prevention, care, and treatment services.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of a Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Community Health or its equivalent from a recognized university/institution.
  • Registration with the Allied Health Professional Council.
  • At least 2 years of experience in managing HIV-positive patients.
  • In-depth knowledge of antiretroviral therapy and current HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and treatment guidelines.
