The organization has the global footprint, deep field presence and local knowledge and relationships necessary to provide access to food and contribute to lasting solutions, especially in many of the world’s most remote and fragile areas.

 

 

Job Summary:

The Partnerships Officer will primarily carry out day-to-day partnerships activities and research, through engaging multiple internal and external stakeholders. External stakeholders  mainly include,  governments, UN agencies, intergovernmental institutions and their member states, international financial institutions, individuals, corporations, foundations and NGOs etc.

The incumbent will develop new, strengthen existing government and donor partnerships, maximize resources raised to support WFP programs, and create innovative solutions to advance the work of WFP, while supporting the Country Office in the achievement of the Country Strategic Plan goals and Zero Hunger.

 

 

Roles and responsibilities of UN WFP Uganda Jobs 2021:

  • Implement the work plan for an assigned area to enable WFP to identify, develop and strengthen quality partnerships in support of WFP strategic objectives.
  • Proactively contribute to a partnerships portfolio, including partner profiling and outreach activities, with the aim to maximize resources and leverage policy and technical support for WFP’s work; Support partner visibility and ensure partner conditions are met.
  • Use data to present managers with well-researched ideas to expand support from existing partners and to scope new partners, guided by programmatic assessment and context-specific analysis with the aim to enhance the impact of WFP’s work and diversify the resource base.
  • Solicit inputs, including operational updates, from other WFP entities to inform partner audiences on WFP’s programmatic offering; Draft quality briefs and proactively highlight strategic issues to senior staff to inform best course of action and nurture partnership growth.
  • Gather and present internal and external data/information, using key information systems (e.g. Salesforce, WINGS, WFPGo), to support WFP’s effective positioning vis-à-vis national governments, regional and international institutions with the aim to influence the policy agenda.
  • In the context of the UN system and multilateral fora, support the development of partnerships and joint events with member states, civil society and intergovernmental organizations to advocate for the SDGs and Zero Hunger on the global agenda and advance WFP priorities and objectives.
  • Actively contribute to partnerships strategies, including the development of Partnership Action Plans
  • Lead programme and other relevant teams in the development of quality partner proposals by coordinating across WFP entities and, when required, external stakeholders.
  • Support senior managers in the preparation of strategic agreements, joint strategies and MOUs in order to promote the SDGs and Zero Hunger on the national, regional and global agenda and to reach advantageous outcomes for WFP.
  • Contribute to preparedness actions, providing technical recommendations and guidance, and monitor defined risks.
  • Others as required.

 

 

Qualifications for UN WFP Uganda Jobs 2021

  • The ideal candidate for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Partnerships Officer job placement must hold a University degree in International Development, Development Economics, Marketing Communications, Political Science, or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.
  • Minimum of one or more years of relevant professional work experience in partnership roles.
  • Has prepared briefs to raise resources for operations and collaborated for timely registration, maintenance, and update of contributions and forecasts.
  • Has provided advanced technical support and identified opportunities for service delivery excellence to strengthen partnerships.
  • Has motivated team spirit and contributed to a gender-balanced, inclusive, and sound working environment.
  • Language: International Professional: Fluency (level C) in English language. Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or WFP’s working language, Portuguese.
  • National Professional: Fluency (level C) in English language and the duty station’s language, if different.

Competencies:

  • Relationship Management: Demonstrates ability to build and sustain effective collaborative relationships with appropriate stakeholders and contacts in area of expertise to raise the profile of WFP, build relationships and further organisational aims.
  • Communication Expertise: Collates accurate and timely information in required format (i.e. written or visual communications materials as well as verbally), to facilitate information flows and informed decision making on communications issues.
  • Information Analytics, Reporting & Management: Gathers, analyses and reports information in a manner that draws out fact-based insights to inform approach to partner relationships and support substantive discussion with partners. Captures relevant information and progress, and ensures internal information sharing.
  • Resource Mobilisation: Analyses relevant technical data and prepares briefs to raise resources for operations, negotiates contributions and keeps donors informed of key policies. Ensures and oversees timely registration of contributions and forecasts, aiming for accuracy and conformity with donors’ documentation and WFP’s rules.
  • Business Process Support & Technical Guidance: Provides technical support to other business areas, identifying procedural issues and solutions. Applies understanding to ensure system maintenance and to support the design and implementation of system changes, supporting users and ensuring relevant training and materials are provided as necessary.
