We are seeking a dynamic Communication Intern to join our team. Under the guidance of the Communication Associate – Social Media and working closely with the Communication Specialist, the intern will play a pivotal role in supporting our Communication, Advocacy, Resource Mobilization, and Partnership efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing graphics, e-posters, photo quotes, and infographics for social media in line with agreed themes.
  • Collaborating with the Senior Communication Associate to plan social media content packs, including hashtags, tagging relevant accounts, and scheduling posts for optimal engagement.
  • Researching information related to UNICEF’s programs for dissemination across digital channels.
  • Creating compelling multimedia content for various platforms, utilizing market-available tools and adhering to ICT policies.
  • Producing video content for social media platforms using available resources and repository content.
  • Maintaining an online social media calendar and monitoring trends and mentions of UNICEF Uganda platforms.
  • Supporting the management of UNICEF Uganda’s digital platforms and contributing ideas for audience growth and engagement.

Requirements:

  • Enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate, graduate, or Ph.D. program, preferably in a related field (e.g., Mass Communication, Digital Communication, Marketing).
  • Proficiency in social media platforms like X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc. Experience in digital marketing is advantageous.
  • Understanding of public relations and/or marketing principles.
  • Computer literacy, including word processing, PowerPoint, Excel, and familiarity with automated systems and analytics.
  • Proficiency in Adobe suite; knowledge of dHTML, content management systems, and graphic design is desirable.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a proactive and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural team environment.
  • Basic skills in video editing, event management, and coordination are a plus.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and UNICEF’s mission.
  • Fluency in English (proficiency in French or Spanish is a bonus).
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have no immediate relatives working in any UNICEF office.
