Join the International Organization for Migration (IOM) as a Senior Project Assistant for the Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion programme. If you are passionate about promoting humane and orderly migration, this role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized support to the National Programme Officer (NPO) for the implementation of the BRMM project and related initiatives.
  • Liaise with government institutions, UN agencies, and technical partners on labour mobility and human development issues.
  • Coordinate knowledge management aspects and facilitate information sharing with stakeholders.
  • Assist in preparing periodic reports for LMI projects, ensuring compliance with IOM and donor requirements.
  • Act as the focal point for the Social Protection Development Partners Working Group.
  • Draft speeches, press releases, and position papers related to LMI activities in Uganda.
  • Conduct research on local LMI issues and provide background information for project proposals.
  • Maintain professional relationships with stakeholders, including government, civil society, and the private sector.
  • Contribute to fundraising efforts for labour migration governance projects.
  • Facilitate coordination meetings and participate in relevant conferences and workshops.
  • Coordinate project-related procurement activities and prepare purchase requisitions.
  • Coach and guide junior colleagues and interns.
  • Undertake duty travel as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • University degree in Social/Political Sciences, International Relations, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 4 years of relevant professional experience with a university degree, or 6 years with a higher secondary school diploma.
  • Experience in coordination with government authorities, UN agencies, and local communities.
  • Familiarity with UN and non-UN humanitarian actors.
  • Experience in project management, logistics, and administrative and financial management.
  • Knowledge of Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion portfolio.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and information management skills.
  • Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in MS Office programmes and knowledge of collaboration platforms.
  • Knowledge of financial management systems.
  • Experience in planning, organizing, and facilitating meetings and training.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and organizational skills.
