About U.S. Mission Uganda:

The U.S. Mission in Uganda is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Special Consular Assistant. This role involves the efficient and timely processing of immigrant visas, managing adoption petitions, processing V92 Asylee Follow-to-Join cases, and Special Immigrant visas for U.S. government employees. If you have experience in office and public service environments, along with a good understanding of migratory trends and border controls, we encourage you to apply.

Job Details:

  • Position: Special Consular Assistant
  • Opening Period: 03/26/2024 – 04/08/2024
  • Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Start Date: Candidate must be able to start within a reasonable period
  • Supervisory Position: No

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process immigrant visas efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Manage adoption petitions, V92 Asylee Follow-to-Join cases, and Special Immigrant visas.
  • Report directly to the Supervisory Consular Specialist.

Qualifications and Evaluations:

  • Education: Completion of University Studies is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of four years of work experience in an office and public service environment.
  • Language: English Level 3 (Good working knowledge), Luganda Level 3 (Good working knowledge), and Lusoga Level 3 (Good working knowledge) required.
  • Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office, strong interpersonal skills, fast and accurate data entry, ability to work independently, exercise good judgement, and write clear correspondence required.
